Configuring Data Grids
Valid8 data grids are configurable — you can resize columns, reorder them, pin specific columns in place, and hide columns you do not need. This allows you to build custom views tailored to your analysis needs. These configuration options are available in most grid windows throughout the platform.
Steps
- Open any grid window in the Valid8 platform (e.g., the Bank Statements or Transactions window).
- To auto-size all columns so all data is visible: right-click anywhere in the grid and select Auto-Size All Columns from the dropdown menu.
- To reorder columns: click on a column header and drag and drop it to the desired position.
- To pin a column in place: hover over the column header until the three-line menu icon appears, click it, and select the Pin option.
- To hide a column: hover over the column header, click the three-line menu icon, then scroll to the column name in the dropdown and toggle it off.
- To restore a hidden column: open the same column menu and toggle the column back on.
Tips & Common Questions
- Auto-size is the fastest way to get oriented. When entering a new grid window, right-clicking to auto-size all columns ensures no data is cut off.
- Pinning keeps key columns in view. When scrolling horizontally through wide data sets, pin your most important reference columns (e.g., account name, date) so they remain visible.
- Grid configurations are view-only. Resizing, reordering, and hiding columns does not affect the underlying data — it only changes how it is displayed.
- Build focused views for focused analysis. Hiding irrelevant columns makes it easier to work through specific accounts or transaction types without visual clutter.
