Daily Account Balances Report
The Daily Account Balances report is an Excel export available from the Bank Transactions window. It provides a comprehensive view of account balance data across the engagement, including a full transaction list, trended cash flow, a running balance ledger, and a balance trending analysis. The same balance data can also be viewed directly within the Valid8 platform through the Visualizations tile.
Steps
- From the process map, click the Bank Transactions tile.
- In the upper right-hand corner, click the Export dropdown menu and select Daily Account Balances — Excel.
- A notification will appear confirming the export has started. Additional progress notifications will appear as the export processes.
- Return to the process map and click the Exports tile.
- In the Exports window, locate the report at the top of the list. Check the checkbox next to it, then click the Download icon in the top toolbar.
- Once processing is complete, the file will download to your computer. Open the Excel spreadsheet.
- Review the four tabs in the spreadsheet:
- Transactions — a full list of all transactions in the engagement, including bank statement data and editable analysis fields.
- Trended Cashflow — pulls from AI categories. This tab only populates if AI categorization has been run on the engagement.
- Balances — a running or periodic ledger of financial account balances.
- Balance Trending — a trend analysis of account balances over time.
- To view balance data directly in Valid8 instead of Excel: return to the process map, click the Visualizations tile, and select Account Period Balances from the dropdown.
- In the Visualizations view, use the filter panel on the right to toggle specific accounts on or off, and zoom in on particular timeframes for closer analysis.
Tips & Common Questions
- Trended Cashflow requires AI categorization. If this tab is blank, AI categorization has not yet been run on the engagement. Run it first, then re-export.
- The Visualizations tile offers an interactive alternative. Use it when you want to quickly compare balances across multiple accounts without opening Excel.
- Filter before exporting. The rows included in the export reflect the filters active on the transaction screen at the time of export.
