Using excel, you can make multiple changes to your transaction data and sync those changes back into the system.
Excel Sync is a three step process:
Step One: Download the Excel file of Transactions
On the Transactions screen click the button to create an Excel file. Choose either the Summary Txns to Excel or Detail Txns to Excel.
The data exported will be limited by the Filters applied to the transactions.
The Export files are all displayed on the Exports screen. To view a file, click the download button associated with the file you want to view. To view the filters that were applied to each file when they were created click the
filter details button.
Step Two: Update Fields
The columns that can be changed are colored blue and these changes include:
- Updates to data read in from the Statement Upload process (Columns H through L)
- Note Transaction Kind is updated by the system so it's not recommended to change that.
- Changing of Description is not recommended. Leave this field as created by the OCR process and create a Custom Description column (using one of the 9 Custom Columns).
- Updates to the three data visualization columns (Columns V, W and X)
- These columns draw the Visualization graph within the application and are used to classify transactions into groups (up to 100).
- Originally named VisCategory1, 2 and 3, these columns can be renamed. Limit the unique values to 100 for each of these columns, otherwise the file will fail to load.
- Updates to the nine custom columns Valid8 gives you to extend the data model (Columns Y through AG).
Non changed rows should be deleted, so that the file you save and import back into the system only has transaction rows you want to change.
Save the file as a CSV UTF-8 (Comma Delimited) file (File Save As in Excel) when you are ready to load it back into the system.
Step Three: Upload the Changed file back into the System
On the Transactions screen, Excel Sync tab click the button to choose and upload a CSV transactions file. Enter a description of what you are changing in the Notes field for tracking purposes.
If you want to roll back your excel sync changes, click the button on the latest file synced. This will roll back that change.
