Financial Activity Report (FAR)

The Financial Activity Report (FAR) is a comprehensive audit report of all activity within an engagement. Before generating the report, you can choose exactly which data sets to include. The finished report is an Excel file with a hyperlinked table of contents for easy navigation. A custom logo can also be added to the report — contact your account manager to set this up.

Steps

  1. From the process map, click the Bank Transactions tile.
  2. Click the Exports button on the right-hand side of the window.
  3. Select the Financial Activity report option.
  4. Choose the data sets to include in the report. Available options are:
    • Accounts — lists each account with its first statement start date and last statement end date.
    • Account Activity Summary — lists each account with total inflows, outflows, dollar value, transaction quantity, and number of statements.
    • Statement Summary — lists each account's statements with beginning and ending balances, total inflows and outflows (dollar value and quantity), and data checkers including date gap sum and whether the previous statement ending balance equals the current statement beginning balance.
    • Statement Detail — a full listing of transactions for each statement within each account.
    • Transfers — lists all transfers grouped by the account the transfer originated from.
    • Date Gaps — lists all date gaps where no statement exists for an account, including the gap start date, gap end date, and number of days.
    • Files — lists all source files used in the engagement, including statements and checks.
  5. Click the Generate FAR button.
  6. Return to the process map and click the Exports tile.
  7. Once the report has finished processing, check the checkbox next to the report name and click the Download icon.
  8. Open the report and scroll down to the Table of Contents. Each section is hyperlinked — click any entry to jump directly to that section of the report.
  9. To return to the table of contents from anywhere in the report, click the Valid8 logo within the document.

Tips & Common Questions

  • Customize the FAR before generating. Only select the data sets relevant to your engagement — this keeps the report focused and easier to navigate.
  • The table of contents is hyperlinked. Use it to navigate quickly between sections rather than scrolling through the full report.
  • Custom logos are supported. If you want your client's logo on the report instead of the Valid8 logo, contact your account manager to arrange this.
  • Date Gaps in the FAR matches the Gaps view in the platform. Use both to cross-reference and confirm all gaps have been accounted for.
