First Time Login
This article walks new Valid8 users through the account verification and first login process, including setting a password and configuring multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA is required and can be set up using an authenticator app or SMS text message. Save your recovery code in a secure location — it is required to log in if you do not have access to your MFA device.
Before You Begin
Have the following ready before starting:
- Access to the email address associated with your Valid8 account
- A smartphone with an authenticator app installed (optional — SMS is available as an alternative)
Steps
- Check your email inbox for a message from Valid8 Support with the subject line "Verify your new Valid8 account."
- Click the Confirm My Account link in the email.
- In the Valid8 login window, enter your username and click Next.
- Click the Reset Your Password link to create a new password.
- Confirm your email address is correct and click Send Email.
- Check your inbox for a new email from Valid8 Support with the subject line "Valid8 Password Change." Click the link in the email.
- In the Change Password window, enter and confirm your new password.
- Return to the login window, enter your username and click Next, then enter your password and click Log In.
- On the Secure Your Account screen, choose your MFA method:
- Authenticator App: Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo Mobile) and enter the one-time code. If you cannot scan the QR code, click Trouble Scanning to manually enter the setup code.
- SMS: Click Try Another Method, select SMS, enter your full phone number, and click Continue. Enter the code sent to your phone.
- On the final screen, copy your Recovery Code and store it in a secure location. Check the checkbox confirming you have recorded it, then click Continue.
- The engagement view will appear. You are now logged in to Valid8.
Tips & Common Questions
- Save your recovery code immediately. This code is the only way to log in if you lose access to your MFA device. Store it somewhere secure — it cannot be retrieved later.
- Check your spam folder if you do not receive the verification email. Emails come from Valid8 Support — add this sender to your safe senders list to avoid future filtering.
- Supported authenticator apps include: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Okta Verify, and other TOTP-compatible apps available on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- SMS is available if you prefer not to use an app. Use the "Try Another Method" option during MFA setup to switch to SMS instead.
