Credit card statements bring in payments as negative numbers and new charges as positive numbers (as opposed to the other way around for Checking and Savings Accounts).
When a statement period is not recognized as a credit card, the transactions will be transposed. To transpose the amounts back, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Statement Summary screen for that Account Period.
- Click the
button to Invert the amounts (and the Beginning and Ending Amount balance).
Spotting Statements that need to be Inverted
On the Account Periods view you can see statements that need to be inverted. A common numeric pattern will show in the data.
In this example below you can see the ending balance from the 1st and 2nd statements are the same but transposed ($-11,040.94 and $11,040.94). And the difference between the two - $22,081.88 (shown in Red, in the previous ending balance equals current beginning balance - PREVEB=BB) is half of the ending balance.
