Match Transfers
The Transfer Match process uses Valid8's patented algorithm to automatically detect transfers between accounts in your engagement. A match is defined as two transactions of the same amount from two different accounts — one positive, one negative — that are not already part of an existing match. Valid8 recommends running this process every time new data is imported, or waiting until all data has been uploaded so the algorithm can analyze the full data set at once.
Before You Begin
Have the following ready before starting:
- Bank statements loaded and assigned to accounts
- Accounts identified within the engagement
Steps
- From the process map, click the Transfer Match tile.
- Click the Find New Matches button in the top toolbar to run the algorithm. A status notification will appear when the process is complete.
- Return to the process map by clicking the Valid8 logo / Home button in the top left.
- Review the match count on the Transfer Match tile, then click the tile to open the results.
- Review the Confirmed Chevron — these are matches that occurred on the same day, are the same amount, and are between two identified accounts. These are automatically accepted and cannot be altered using toolbar icons.
- Click the Found Chevron — these are potential matches with a date discrepancy of 1–7 days. They require manual review.
- For each Found match, review the details and either Approve or Reject it using the icons in the top toolbar. You can act on matches one at a time or select multiple to approve or reject in bulk.
- To approve all Found matches at once, click the Approve All Matches button. This moves all matches from Found to Confirmed.
- Rejected matches are moved to the Rejected Chevron. Rejecting a match does not delete the transactions — it only removes the link between them. The transactions remain in your data set.
- To search for additional matches within the rejected list, click Find New Matches again to rerun the algorithm.
Tips & Common Questions
- Confirmed = same day, Found = 1–7 days apart. Confirmed matches are automatically accepted. Found matches need your review before they are finalized.
- Run Find New Matches after every new import. Valid8 recommends re-running the algorithm each time data is added, or waiting until all data is uploaded to run it once against the complete data set.
- Rejecting does not delete transactions. Rejected matches only remove the association between two transactions — both transactions remain in the engagement data.
- Confirmed matches cannot be edited via toolbar. Once a match is confirmed, it is locked. If a confirmed match needs to be changed, contact Valid8 support for guidance.
