Uploading Files

Before Valid8 can analyze bank and financial data, statement files must be uploaded into the platform. Valid8 supports multiple file types including bank statements, brokerage statements, transaction lists, check images, and check item lists. Bank statements can be native or non-native PDFs from any institution and any format. Each statement file for a specific period must include all pages in the correct order.

Before You Begin

Have the following ready before starting:

  • Statement files ready on your computer (PDF format for bank statements)
  • Accounts pre-created in Valid8 if you want to assign files during upload (required for brokerage statements and transaction lists)

Steps

  1. From the process map, click either the Statement Files or Check Files tile in the Load region. Both options lead to the same upload menu.
  2. From the upload menu, select the file type you are uploading:
    • Bank Statements (checking, savings, or credit card)
    • Brokerage Statements
    • Transaction Lists
    • Check Images
    • Check Item Lists
  3. For bank statements: Valid8 supports native and non-native PDFs from any institution and any statement format. Click Next.
  4. Click Select Files and drag and drop your files into the upload window. Note the following limits:
    • Maximum file size: 100 MB per file
    • Maximum pages: 3,000 pages per file
  5. Optionally, assign the files to an existing account. If no account has been created yet, you can proceed without assigning and do so later. Click Start Extraction.
  6. Once extraction is complete, the uploaded statements will appear in the Valid8 platform, ready to be assigned and reconciled.

Tips & Common Questions

  • Bank statements are the most flexible. Valid8 accepts any PDF format from any financial institution — native or non-native. No special formatting is required.
  • Brokerage statements and transaction lists require accounts first. Unlike bank statements, these file types must have a pre-created account before they can be uploaded. Set up the accounts in the Bank Statements tile before uploading.
  • All pages must be included in order. Each file must contain all pages of the statement for that period, in the correct sequence. Partial or out-of-order uploads will cause extraction errors.
  • Upload multiple files at once. You can drag and drop as many files as needed in a single session, as long as each file stays within the 100 MB and 3,000 page limits.
