Missing pages on a Statement - how do I fix this?

Often you receive statements that are incorrect - missing the last page(s), or only odd pages etc. How do you rectify this?

How can I tell my statement is missing pages?

If the missing pages contain transactions your account period will not balance. These are some indicators that your statement was loaded without the full set of pages:

  • Statements with transactions missing will show as unreconciled. With the beginning and ending balances correct (as read from the start of the statement) but the number and amounts of increases and/or decreases being lower than reported on the statement overview. Many statements list the number of transactions, so this is an easy way to see if you are missing transactions.
  • Most Statements show a Page X of Y either at the top or bottom of the statement pages. check that all pages are present - and it's not missing pages from the end of the file, or throughout the file.

If I retrieve the missing pages can I merge those with the original statement?

No, the statement needs to be loaded again:

  • Load the new statement(s) that have the full set of pages.
    • If you have been given just the missing pages, merge these together with the original pages to create one complete file - and load this file.
  • Once these have been processed, assign them to your account.
  • You will have two Account Periods that span the same dates now. Delete the unreconciled account period - the one with missing transactions. And make sure your new account period is marked as reconciled.
